Personality answers:

1. Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Ace’s greatest source of growth absolutely came from the presence of his little brother, Luffy. As sworn brothers, their bond was one that they chose for themselves in the wake of neglect, death and abandonment by blood relations; Luffy also represents a deep emotional transformation in Ace. In the wake of Sabo’s ( then-presumed ) death, Ace took on the role of Luffy’s sole older brother, a responsibility that shaped his identity. Luffy’s unwavering belief in him, his boundless optimism, and his refusal to judge Ace for his lineage contrasted starkly with the doubt and self-loathing Ace carried as the son of Gol D. Roger.

2. Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
Tragically, the most pivotal moment in Ace's life is his death at Marineford. Throughout his life, Ace wrestled with the burden of being Gol D. Roger’s son, fighting back against a hostile world that demanded he justify his existence. That world condemned him before birth, long before he had a chance to define himself, leaving him isolated and desperate to carve out an identity separate from his father’s shadow.

His capture by the World Government leads directly to a grand-scale and history-defining war at Marineford, as well as the ultimate test of everything Ace fought for: his pride, his chosen family, and his sense of self. The war revealed how deeply loved he is by Whitebeard and his crew, as they risked everything to save him. Yet, Ace’s fatal flaw — his inability to run when his family is on the line — is what finally cost him his life.

3. What is your character most afraid of?
Ace’s deepest fear is that his existence is a mistake — that the world would have been better off without him. From childhood, he was haunted by the weight of his father’s legacy. As the son of the Pirate King and harbinger of a revitalized era of piracy, Ace wasn’t just "unwanted"; he was mythologized as a curse upon the world, the living reminder of a man hated by the masses. This belief was reinforced by the cruel words of strangers, shaping Ace’s self-perception into one of inherent unworthiness.

4. What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?
Once again, the root of all his brain problems are external opinions that he internalized........ #yikes

Arguably, his lowest "moment" is not a single event — it's the lifelong burden of having his existence condemned before he was even born. From conception to death, he was hunted by the World Government: his existence seen as a threat simply because of his lineage and potential. He grew up internalizing the world’s hatred for his father, leading him to believe that his birth was a mistake, that he had to prove he deserved to exist, and that he was a cursed existence meant only to bring misfortune.

For much of his life, Ace responded to this despair with defiance. He sought strength, purpose, and validation: through reckless fights, building a name for himself as a pirate, and ultimately finding family and peers who cared deeply for him. He faced his demons by choosing to live without regrets, clinging to the love of his chosen family even when he struggled to believe he deserved it, even at the end.

Inventory:
1. A dagger, held in a green sheath.
2. His Log Pose.
3. A tattered and aged letter, written by Sabo.
4. HIS HAT PLEASE!!!!! cause he doesn't have those things at marineford :>

Powers/Abilities:

Enhanced Stats. His strength, speed, durability and raw skill are reflective of a shonen series someone with distinctly above-human ability. He was considered a threat to the World Government because of his ( unfulfilled ) potential growth alone. However, his narcolepsy is a notable weakness.

Devil Fruit ( Mera Mera no Mi ). Having eaten this fruit, Ace can create, control, manipulate and become fire for both offensive and defensive purposes. He can de- and reconstruct his body into fire, has a resistance towards heat, can temporarily impact the weather with his presence, and possesses all elemental properties of flame. In exchange for his substantial Devil Fruit powers: he cannot swim, his powers are nullified once he is submerged into waist-deep water or if he comes into contact with seastone.

Haki. An energy manifested from an individual's willpower. There are three main types of Haki, two of which can be attained, learned and mastered by anyone ( including animals) and one that an individual must be born with.
— Observation Haki grants the user an extrasensory sixth sense that allows them to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of others, as well as gain limited precognitive abilities.
— Armament Haki allows the user to use their own spiritual energy to create, in essence, an invisible piece of armor around themself, providing incredible offensive and defensive capabilities.
— Supreme King / Conqueror's Haki allows one to assert one's will over others to dominate them, causing those of inferior spirit to be intimidated or (if much weaker) to lose consciousness.

Samples: Here & Here

Goals: As a character bound by fate, legacy and an abysmal sense of self-worth that only began to alleviate at his time of death, the game's premise and themes resonate strongly with his desire to escape his unwanted lineage and the role he was forced into by a world hostile to his existence. I'm interested in exploring his relationship with what he died for, the "second chance" he's been given and the rapid experience of his changing body — how it might both empower and divorce him from both those things, lending to the corruptive influence. He's defined by his love, compassion and kindness toward others, so he'd easily become an elder brother/caretaker to others!

Soul Choice: Spectral.
